This site is created by me, Hans Ekander,
Åhus, Sweden. Fly-fishing and simulating reality are two of my passions merged
together here.
Laguna Willmanco near Esquel in Patagonia has
given unforgettable fly-fishing memories and therefore given name to my
company, Willmanco AB, and to this site.
The simulation model used here, has been
developed by me during a decade and rests on well proven methods and extensive
verification. Some features of this simulation model that are not (or only
partly) found in other fly casting simulation models, see references, are listed below:
· Hauling and feeding of line. This feature makes it possible to
vary the line length as is done in practical fly fishing as well as in
competitive casting.
· Interaction with a water surface. This feature makes it possible
to simulate roll casts and complete casts starting with the line on the water
surface and ending with the line having landed on the water.
· Material damping. This feature increases modelling accuracy of
the fly rod and models “memory” observed in fly lines.
· Reynolds number dependent air drag. This feature increases
accuracy of air drag simulation especially for small diameters and low relative
velocities between air and line/rod.

he got me infected with his enthusiasm for fly-fishing. We share great memories
from fishing some truly beautiful corners of the world.

Casting Instructor has generously shared his extensive casting experience and
sharp eyes helping in the developments towards simulating more realistic casts.

shared high quality experimental data from measured casts and supplied ideas
for improvements contributing to the developments of the simulation model.
