50ft oh casts, comparison alternative rods

Purpose

The purpose of this comparison is to show the impact of changing rods.

The comparison is made between two simulations:

· The 50ft oh ref. cast. The rod used in this simulation is a “high end” rod from a well reputed fly rod manufacturer.

· “50ft alt. rod” is simulated using an “entry level” rod from another well reputed fly rod manufacturer.

Comment, animation:

The cast with the alternative rod gives a slightly higher loop speed and a smaller loop radius. Possibly, this may be explained by the slightly higher bending stiffness of the alt. rod.
